The County called me asking if our club has any events planned this fall for them to get involved in. The County Executive, Dennis McNerney, is the main reason Campgaw was installed and he loves disc golf. He wants to come out and see the disc golf community that has developed at Campgaw, take a few photo's along with the County Freeholders, and maybe even play a round with us. I figure we could combine the Mighty Monthly that is normally scheduled for October with the County's support to hold a fun event with a good turnout. We need a date. Lehigh is holding an event in early October, USDGC is the 2nd weekend, NEFA Finals is the 16th in VT..How does the weekend of the 23/24 sound? Or the following Saturday the 30th?

That's great! It'll make the mighty monthly even more mighty! Very cool that he called you.

I'd say we should do the 23rd or 24th. The 30th is the day before Halloween, which will be the LED Classic at Rutgers. I suppose you could do both on the same day, but some folks might not want to.

What event is Lehigh having in early October? The only thing I see is their ABC tourney on Sept. 25th.

I don't know, Cutler told me about it. I saw the ABC on their web site also. I like the weekend of the 10-23/24. I told the County I would get back to them by tomorrow to confirm the date.

Robin had mentioned that he was planning on holding an event the weekend before the USDGC. Maybe that has changed, I can find out.

I have to confirm the date by this afternoon. I think we should go with Saturday, October 23rd. Does anyone know of any conflicts or other reasons not to hold the Mighty Monthly on this date?

The only question that comes into my mind when picking a date is "Will the chairlift be operational or are we going to have to hike up?" If it is operational what time will it start and stop? Details please ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

I had a few questions as well...

If we have to pay to use the chairlift, will the fee be just for the day, or does that include multiple days.

If I decide to bring a backpack, is that an extra fee?

If their is no extra fee to bring a backpack, can I put my daughter in the backpack to avoid paying for her to ride the chair?

Thanks!

I am looking forward to coming down for this. Just a couple questions.

What time on the 23rd is this starting?
Are we playing both LT and ST or just one round (i only ask because this event is EDIT: supposed to be combined with the county's efforts)... I apologize for the big words previously used, Andy.

I can't wait!

This will be a Skylands Monthly so we will do 1 round. Pro's will play the long tees. Am's, Rec's, and Ladies can play what ever layout they want.
10 AM Tee.

Could someone do up a flyer for this? 8-)

Flyer created and posted on homepage!

http://www.nynjdiscgolf.com/new_site/index.php

Yar!

and whats all this about the chairlift running, is this a fact? If so I want to include on the flyer, may bring spectators in! (wishfull thinking) but it could be a possible selling point...

Scowpak Quote:
AND!!!! - What will you be providing for lunch? Can i play with one of my friends in the second round? When are we teeing off? What layout are we playing? Can we play old hole 3? Can I show up late? I don't have a pencil? I don't have a mini? Can you hold a spot for me? Can I crash at your place for the weekend? Where is a good place to eat around the course? Hole 4 sucks, will it be changed by the date of the monthly? If I miss the mando on my drive, is there a drop zone? Where is hole 8? Will there be water on the course? Do I have to be a Skylands member to play this? Will this effect my rating? What's the SSA? Are collared shirts required? I am i outside? Is there a 2 meter rule?

and the answer is ..... YES.

The new bar in the lodge will be open after the event also, The County is supplying all you can drink beer as soon as the last card is turned in. So no need to bring any alcohol to this monthly. 8-)

Haha, i have received about 3 emails and a few texts since these messages went up. There are a lot of gullible people out there.

FYI, there will be no operational chairlift and no bar. I was serious about leaving alcoholic beverages at home though. The County Executive is scheduled to kick off this event so everyone should be on their best behavior.

1. elephant caddy's will be available, just as long you can get them up the chair lift.

2. Peanuts will be highly forbidden, except for fat four hoofed caddys.

3. ALL caddys/pets should be on a leash. Park rule.

4. like ALL DG debrie, it MUST be carried out. Park Rule.

Do we have an understanding????????

I'm putting this up on message boards. Spread the word.

I realize it's kinda late to promote this, but the Skylands Disc Golf Club is trying to glorify one of our monthly events. This Saturday 10/23, we are holding the Bergen County Autumn Open. It's a fun, laid back 1 round event on the Mighty Gaw. All players are welcome. We offer 4 divisions, Pro, Am, Rec, and Ladies. We are trying to get as many people there as possible to show support to The Bergen County Executive who will be there at the beginning of the event for a handshake/photo session. A good showing will show the County Heads that the course is worth supporting and improving.
Here is the flyer
The Bergen County Autumn Open

We pay cash to all divisions, Top +/- 45% of the field gets payed out.

The weather is looking great and the course/views look amazing this time of the year.

Sorry for the delay in posting the results. We had a field of 9 in think. Perfect weather and scenery. As usual the County Executive had other plans. The Superintendent of Parks was there and he said the Parks Department really pleased with the Disc Golf Course and they appreciate the way we maintain and improve it. I'll try to post the scores tonight.
