2014 Monthly Schedule - :?: :?: :?:
The club tags will be delivered in about 2 weeks so the 1st monthly of the year will be the 2014 Club Registration\Tag Round which I will run.
So I'll toss out 4 possible dates

Wolfe Woods - March 29th or 30th, ( April 5th is FDR Fools Fest, so that weekend is out for me), April 12th or 13th.

DG Crew :?: :?: :?:

Last year Scoward brought up a point about a possible point series for skylands members. Anyone want to chime in with some details around this posibility?

Seems like some sea-scab shanghaied the annual monthly kick-off again this year. so here's the same problem we ran into last year... since we're not starting with buzzys in march, do we do buzzys in april or is late april the only real time to have a Mighty Muddy Montly? If we wait until May for buzzy's then it'll have to be one of the first weekends before the park fills with non-golfers for the summer. I want to sort this soon because my weekends are filling up already.

Ol sea scab here, problem solved, I just cancelled the WW monthly. Tradition rules over semi changed monthly rules.
The first Monthly can be the same date at Buzzys. :) Or what ever date you want. I'll handle registration , you can handle the event. aye. :)

I'm fine with that... I appriciate that you spearheaded getting the mothlys and tags going. i'm sure we should/could have worked all of this out moths ago. should lay out the next few moths?

march - buzzy's 3/29
april - wolfe?
May - Mighty 5/31
June - Warwick?
July - campy?
Aug -??
Sep - oasis?

(i picked those for no real reason at all so please chime in)

I'd be willing to host Campgaw in April. Probably too early for the full Mighty layout given the amount of snow we got this winter, which I'm happy to host in the fall. I'll come up with some dates that work around our Mighty Gaw prep workdays.

maybe switch gaw and WW? IE Gaw in May, WW in April? I'll run WW.

when is the grass at its lowest at gaw? ( For mighty) OR do Campy in may and Mighty in the fall ( also scheduled around when they cut the grass on the hill)

No problem moving Gaw to May, it would probably need to be on one of the last weekends of the month with tournaments on the Mighty Gaw and Warwick scheduled for the 10th and 18th.

The course will likely be in good shape given the cleanup that will happen for Mighty Gaw, so either layout would probably be available, but I wasn't sure if we wanted to put both Mighty events in the same month, with both Campgaw events in the same time period later in the year (Gaw Greens II is tentatively scheduled for early August).

For now go ahead and put Gaw down for May 31st, and we'll determine which layout at a later time.

JByrd! Hey dude, this is awesome. If you can hold it on any other day except August 17th that would be awesome. I have an outing with work planned for that day. Introducing some peeps to the game and a BBQ.

Hey how about 8/31 for a Wolfe Woods Monthly?

Combo work day to get the course in tip top shape for the tourney?

Also Donnie Collins has a homemade, high quality welded basket to donate!!! It is made by him in the design of the Warwick Mach 3 baskets. We can plant it that day. All he needs to complete is S hooks and chains. If anyone has an extra set of chains, maybe donate!?!? Donnie wants to plant it as a practice basket at hole one Wolfe. We need to cement that sucker good so it dont walk away!!! With labor, the basket is worth $500.

Need a sleeve, chains and hooks.

anyone?

awesome Dan. Donnie will be away that weekend but he is going to get the basket to me ahead of time. Once we get it in the ground Ill come over and see if there is enough supplies to get er done! Thanks!

Where do you think is the best place for it? We were thinking to the left of hole one tee pad right where tournament central usually would be. However, if we put it somewhere else to make a long pin for 18.......?? would be a nice addition but the only place where it wont be in the way is on the path behind pin #1. Not bad, it puts the creek into play even more because you have to cross it for the easy birdie or make the birdie putt over the creek.

Think about it and let me know. I dont want to put it somewhere that you guys dont want it. We could even carve out a new green for it. Then it is in play. Not really a practice basket anymore but that is how 7 long is now on the Animal course. But a practice basket was the original intent.

Ideas????

if its a random basket placed anywhere other than near the 1st tee it seems kind of out of place and a source for confusion?

it gets used and appreciated more if it was placed near the 1st tee and used as a practice basket, in my opinion.

Although I like the thought of a long 18, it would be the only one in WW. That can be a club decision if they ever wanted to expand WW to long pins. Which by the way would be a killer long layout!!!

I think you are right. I will work with Cuts on the best placement spot. It will be a designated practice basket.

Thanks Dan.

Possible Monthly @ Oasis! 11/8/14

News From Dan:
i would be willing to host an 18-hole monthly on saturday november 8th.

we could play 1 9-hole round on the short layout and 1 9-hole round on the long layout.
